I think it should be perfectly acceptable to be able to discuss your personal objections to further expansion into the West Bank, the forthcoming and soon to be cutting off of parts of the West Bank to E.Jerusalem. To be of the opinion that the near 2 million people in the Gaza strip are being denied legitimate freedom of movement.

To view things such as operation cast lead and the testimonies and admissions by some of those involved in it afterwards with disgust.

To be able to have those opinions, without suspicions raised that you also have some kind of other ulterior agenda.

But for some reason you seemingly can't.

I would say anti-zionism (today - not counting past forms of it) is a perfectly rational opposition to the way the State of Israel behaves towards the Palestinians, in what is no more or less than apartheid.

Anti-semitism is just a hatred of Jews, and has nothing to do with Israel, despite the way the IHRA twists the definition

Easy innit. Both are understandable if you live in certain parts of the world. These.certain parts of the world don't have posh names to label the hatred of them though so it's less fashionable to call it out.

The way I see it is anti Semitism is what Corbyn and his cronies nurtured in labour for years and so many of his followers don’t have the integrity to admit they got duped and would rather double down and try to excuse their anti semitism and explain it away as anti Zionism rather than just apologise and learn.

Have to admit that this is a good thread.

As a result have read through the IHRA definitions and examples that many have quoted on here and feel more informed on the subject.

You are ignoring examples 7 and 8 of the IHRA definition, which I specifically mentioned. You know, the inconvenient ones that Labour anti-Semites fought tooth and nail to avoid signing up to. Even when they did sign up to them the NEC issued a qualifying swerve.

I don't make the rules, mate. Once you've signed up to that agreement, it's impossible to support the abolition of the State of Israel without being anti-Semitic.

anti-Zionism is not the antonym
of Zionism. This is because 1948 happened. Unless you think it didn't?

Obviously 1948 happened.

Pre 1948 anti Zionism was the opposition to an independent Jewish state, being formed.

We now have one. Anti Zionism is opposition to it's continued existence.

The IHRA working definition of ant semitism is:

Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

No mention of Israel, in that.

The IRHA also says "criticism of Israel similar to that levelled against any other country cannot be regarded as anti semitic"

Been to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ashdod, Nazareth and Haifa also Bethlehem which I think is in Palestine, oh and the Dead Sea
